I was a bit hesitant at first, but then I gave it a go and I LOVE it!

Orange’s Pinnacle Dragon Boat Club has its origins in the Dragons Abreast program which founding member Pearl Butcher helped establish in Orange as an inspiration for women diagnosed or recovering from breast cancer to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. The formation of the Dragon Boat Club with sessions held at Lake Canobolas was not only a ‘first’ for Orange, but immediately attracted huge interest from a wide section of the community. Since its formation, the club has continued to evolve and diversify and now carries the name of the Pinnacle Dragon Boat Club. After being invited to climb aboard and take up a paddle for a session on Lake Canobolas, I could immediately see the enormous appeal of this sport and recreational activity. Seeing dragon boats out on Lake Canobolas automatically brings a sense of wanting to get involved for anyone on the shoreline. And that is exactly what has happened with everyone from school children to seniors regularly taking part in training days, leisure activities and competitions.
